about Therese Beale
Therese Beale has counseled some of the country's best-known companies in message development, positioning strategy, media
strategy/placement and internal communications. Clients have spanned such industry segments as professional services,
information technology, life science, airlines, banking, retail, industry trade associations, telecommunications, credit
card services, lumber and building products, manufacturing, vision care, and food & beverages.
Her career includes 11 years with leading public relations firms and eight years as a newspaper writer and editor.
She also has extensive experience as an independent consultant to one of the world's leading management and technology
consulting organizations.
Before forming her business in 1999, Therese was a vice president in the Chicago office of Fleishman-Hillard International
Communications. There she managed programs for such companies as Lands' End, Cellular One/SBC Wireless, Harris Bank/Bank
of Montreal, and R.R. Donnelley. Her account team won an Award of Excellence in the 1998 Public Relations Society of America
Silver Anvil Awards competition for a positioning campaign for the Bank of Montreal's leading economist. Therese also worked
in Fleishman's Washington D.C. office on consumer education programs for the Vision Council of America, the leading trade
association representing eyewear manufacturers and eye care professionals. That work resulted in a 1992 Silver Anvil for an
education campaign promoting back-to-school eye exams among teachers and eye care professionals.
In the Chicago office of Burson-Marsteller, one of the world's leading communications firms, Therese worked on-site for
more than two years at Andersen Consulting. She generated extensive media coverage in leading national and international
media outlets for the firm's consumer products practice, covering the retail, food and transportation industries. While at
Burson, Therese also managed consumer marketing programs for Gatorade/Quaker Oats, LensCrafters, and Ameritech Cellular
Services.
Therese started her career in Virginia as a reporter for The Richmond News Leader and later worked as reporter and editor at
The Daily Press in Newport News, Va.
Therese
has a master's degree in managerial communication from Northwestern University (Evanston,
Il.) and a bachelor's degree in communication arts from James Madison
University (Harrisonburg, Va.). She is president of Marketing and Communications Executives International/Seattle and served for three years on the board of directors for the Puget Sound chapter of the American Marketing Association. Therese is a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow Seattle/Class of 2006.
