Lante Corporation, established in 1984, is a leading information technology consulting
company focused on helping companies collaborate via the Internet.
Internal Communications
Lante was at a critical juncture when it hired Beale Communications in the spring
of 1999 to take a closer look at its employee communications. The founder, after
15 years of running the company, was preparing to hand over the CEO post to an
experienced senior technology executive being recruited from the outside. Lante
was growing rapidly. New senior managers were running regional offices and
headcount was expanding to accommodate growing client demand for the company's
new offerings in Internet-based services.
Beale Communications conducted an organizational assessment of the company's
internal communications practices. Interviews were conducted with management
and all levels of employees throughout four offices to evaluate message content,
communications channels and vehicles, and the overall communications
environment. The resulting report recommended short-term action items to
improve communications between management and employees, plus overall
objectives and strategies for a comprehensive internal communications program.
"Therese's insightful assessment of our communications systems, and certain
cultural issues affecting the effectiveness of our 'top-down' messages, helped
us iron out some rough spots during a period of rapid change at Lante. Her
report provided a head start in strategic planning for the employee
communications manager we later hired."
